The Barcelona chair and its amazing history

Mies van der Rohe was a famous and special architect who form part of the world of architecture and furniture design 20th century. The Barcelona chair is may or may not his most famous furnishing creation. This iconic model was specially designed to intend for the Spanish royal family to rest their weary legs at the 1929 Barcelona Exposition.

This model was inspired in the  “X” shapes of Egyptian folding chairs and Roman folding stools. An interesting fact about this is that the first model wasn’t completely designed as it is now and also was not intended to sell. The last version that Mies created years before the original was taken from Knoll to reproduce and sell to the public.

Understanding the differences between Industrial and mid-century modern style

Industrial Style | 2000 – 2010

Industrial style it’s defined by “an aesthetic trend in interior design that takes clues from old factories and industrial spaces that in recent years have been converted to lofts and other living spaces”. This style was found in urban areas, which is a great option for a creative person because it offers to the owner an empty and blank area to start your design from scratch

How can you recognize the Industrial style?

If you are looking at a living room, for example, take a first look at the ceiling, it can look rustic with steel details. Also, look at all the components within the complete design, it should include plywood, building systems, exposed brick, industrial lighting fixtures, and concrete.

Here is an example for you to better understand how the industrial style should look like:
