About The Product

Originally designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, our reproduction of the Barcelona Table is the ideal companion to any of our pieces in the Barcelona Collection. Like them, the Barcelona Table features the unique and simple elegance that sets our Barcelona Collection apart with its chrome and glass design. Our Barcelona Table pays homage to the groundbreaking mid-century modern design and simple sophistication of Mies van der Rohe as featured in the German Pavilion at the 1929 International Exposition in Barcelona

The Barcelona Table is expertly made following Mies van der Rohe’s exact design and specifications. Its stainless steel frame is ground and buffed by hand to a mirror finish point. Its chromed base is polished and made from a single piece of stainless steel for additional long-term durability. No screws, no bolts. Finally, the Barcelona table is topped with a 3/4" thick clear tempered glass with a 1/8" beveled edge.

The Barcelona Table features the characteristically Mies van der Rohe’s mastery of lines and materials that defined the mid-century and modern design. The Barcelona Table is, simply put, a table worthy of royalty that will give any home or office the same royal sense of luxury and elegance.

About the Designer

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is known as one of the most important figures in the history of mid-century modern furniture design. Mies van der Rohe set a standard for many generations in furniture and interior design that is still valid to this day: the “less is more” approach. As a leader of the German modernist movement, Mies van der Rohe was famous for his amazing furniture as well as residential projects and extraordinary building concepts.

After designing the German Pavilion at the 1929 International Exposition in Barcelona and serving as Director of the Bauhaus from 1930 until it closed in 1933, Mies Van der Rohe immigrated to the United States. From his Chicago-based office, Mies designed pieces that completely changed mid-century and modern design: the most notable example being the Barcelona Collection.
